Staff Sergeant John W. Davis of the Army National Guard visited Umpire High School for Constitution Day.

During his visit, he explained the meaning and symbolism behind the US flag. The flag’s stripes represent the original thirteen colonies while the stars represent the 50 US states. The colors also carry significance: red symbolizes valor and sacrifice, white stands for purity and innocence, and blue reflects vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

But to our Wildcats, the flag represents even more: freedom, hope, and home.

UHS would also like to give a shout out to our Army National Guard seniors: Jadan, Kelley, and Selena!

Something special is growing at Umpire! The elementary classes and the high school science classes are raising monarch caterpillars to the butterfly stage as park of Cossatot River State Park's Raise and Release program. The elementary students got to hear all about monarch caterpillars and butterflies from park interpreters Abby Piccin and Gretchen Gogle. Be on the lookout for their progress!
