Due to the weather, the Umpire Elementary Class Pictures have been rescheduled for February 16th.
WES Kindergarten completed a unit study over Groundhogs last week. Today they learned whether their predictions were accurate or not. They had a lot of fun learning about their habitats and survival skills and making a prediction poster for the hallway. But none of the students were excited to hear Punxsutawney Phil predict 6 more weeks of winter.
Due to the dangerous weather conditions in the forecast, CRSD will take an AMI day on Thursday, February 3rd. A decision about whether or not to have school Friday will be made on Thursday. Check our social media, website, and the local radio for future decisions.

Cossatot River School District will be using AMI days for Thursday and Friday, January 20th and 21st due to staff shortages. Mrs. Brown is still getting calls today and has not finished entering all of the new names to the list of quarantined and isolated. We anticipate more teachers and staff being able to return to school on Tuesday, January 25th to resume normal classes. This will not affect any scheduled basketball games. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and cooperation as we continue to adjust to the situation.

I teach kindergarten at Van-Cove Elementary. This is my fourth year to teach kindergarten with CRSD. I graduated from Southern Arkansas University in 2018. Shortly after graduating, I was offered a wonderful opportunity teaching kindergarten at Umpire Elementary. This last year, I transferred to Van-Cove Elementary. I live in Wickes with my husband, Jesse Sherrouse, and my three kids, Alexander, Chloe, and Josiah. When I'm not working on classroom projects for my kinders, I'm working on projects for my family! Between the two, there is never a dull moment!

We want to give a big shoutout to some of our local businesses for helping motivate our students to study for their upcoming state test. Stilwell's Restaurant, located in Dequeen, donated two free lunches for our students to practice their English skills in their Restaurant! Baja Rios from Cove contributed a free lunch to our Junior ESL class! El Guerrerense Merch, locally owned and operated in Facebook, donated a Frida Hispanic-themed bag! Sweet Cravings as well from Dequeen Arkansas, presented five gift certificates. With all this love and support from our local business and vendors, we made massive success with our study session! Thank you once again for all the love and support!
